2026 Bajaj Chetak EV Launched with 650KM Range at low cost, bluetooth feature is added

2026 Bajaj Chetak EV : Bajaj Auto’s Chetak electric scooter continues to attract attention in India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market. Known for its stylish metal body and familiar nameplate, the Chetak EV has gradually developed from a premium city scooter into a wider family of models aimed at different budgets and riding needs.

The latest Chetak range includes the C2501, C3001, C3503, C3502 and C3501 variants. Depending on the version, buyers can choose between 2.5 kWh, 3.0 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery packs. The top C3501 variant offers a claimed range of up to 153 km, while the entry-level C2501 is rated for approximately 113 km on a full charge.

New Chetak C3501 Offers Stronger Performance

The Chetak C3501 remains the most feature-rich model in the line-up. It uses a 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and is equipped with a BLDC electric motor. Earlier specifications listed a top speed of 73 km/h, but Bajaj’s latest update increases the claimed top speed of the C3501 to 80 km/h. The scooter can charge from 0 to 80 percent in around three hours.bajajauto+1

The C3501 is designed mainly for urban commuting, although its improved speed makes it more comfortable on wider roads. Its claimed range is measured under controlled test conditions, so the practical distance may vary depending on rider weight, traffic, road gradients, weather and riding mode.

The scooter also features a front disc brake, rear drum brake, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and a single-sided leading-link front suspension. A rear monoshock helps improve comfort over uneven city roads. According to published specifications, the C3501 has a 20 Nm torque output and a 1,355 mm wheelbase.

Smart Features Become a Major Highlight

Technology is now one of the biggest selling points of the Bajaj Chetak EV. The updated portfolio adds built-in Google Maps navigation, ride modes and over-the-air software updates. Higher variants receive a TFT touchscreen display, while other models use a colour LCD instrument panel.

Depending on the variant and optional TecPac package, the scooter can offer features such as music control, call alerts, hill-hold assistance, reverse mode, anti-theft functions and smartphone connectivity. These features make the Chetak more convenient for daily users who want more than basic electric transportation.

The full-metal construction also gives the scooter a premium appearance. However, its relatively substantial build may feel heavier than some rival electric scooters during parking or slow-speed manoeuvres.

At present, Bajaj does not appear to publish an official U.S. MSRP or a nationwide American dealer network for the Chetak EV. Therefore, a buyer in the United States should not treat the converted figure as the final purchase cost. Import duties, shipping, certification, registration, insurance and possible modifications could increase the price considerably.

Can the 2026 Bajaj Chetak EV Succeed Overseas?

Bajaj Auto has indicated that it wants to expand Chetak production and explore additional export markets as demand grows. The company has also considered increasing manufacturing capacity beyond Maharashtra to support future expansion.auto.economictimes.indiatimes+1

The Chetak’s retro-modern styling, practical range and connected features could appeal to urban riders in overseas markets. However, success in the United States would depend on compliance with local safety regulations, charging compatibility, service availability and battery warranty support.

For now, the Bajaj Chetak EV remains primarily an India-focused electric scooter. Its latest technology upgrades and stronger performance make it a more attractive option for city commuters, while the C3501 stands out as the best-equipped version. American buyers should wait for an official launch announcement before relying on any advertised U.S. price.
